Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. 1981 she started covering the White House, and in 1988, she was promoted to Chief Correspondent to Congress. In 1992, she was made Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as fiscal tax reforms, as well as arms control. She traveled together with President Ronald Reagan many times for summits, and to discuss issues like the Iran Contra scandal.
